If Google do a free open source platform, then everybody can do compatible hardware and the consumer benefits from innovation and low prices - A bit like Microsoft did for the desktop.

Hmm.. maybe not a good comparison?

What I think will happen is that a bunch of Chinese factory's will be able to eventually churn out cheep medium range Android hardware, cheap enough to give away with happy meals.</description>
